belt slippage shows itself as black dust around the belt area. for the homemade kit did you use a larger belt? adding the extra pulley and keeping the oem pulley and belt will pull the tensioner to its limit. might want to check. without the tensioner having enough play it puts added stress on the pulleys and the oem idler pulleys are crap to start. an added benefit to the n/w pulley saver lit is the idler pulleys and belt can be found at napa for cheap
