Mine never even coughed with the switch over. Some say they kept the larger MAF sensor in place and it adapted after spluttering for a while.
I did the maths and the old sensor in the new MAF is better when you compare the air volume, the square area of the larger MAF and hence the air flow required in the 6 and the V8. The V8 requires so much more air the 74 mm sensor would not see any where near the same conditions staying in the 74 mm housing.
To switch the sensor is a bit of a pain, as it was a five point tamper proof Torx screw. I used a tamper proof flat head bit and Beaner used a plain flat head bit. It chops up the socket a but but they are not to tight.

the spluddering...how long did it last? and since i have to switch out the sensor as well to a 74mm where can i purchase one as well?? since the 68mm wont work at all
