Many adjusters and body shops DO look at used, LKQ for example, is one of the largest suppliers to my friends mostly insurance body shop. These people are in the business, they would not look at a $1300 headlight new and then turn down a $300 perfect condition 'take off'. All depends on your policy, but a majority of these parts being put on wrecked cars come from wrecked cars, another reason to get a new XF.

All I am saying is its easy to say, and a lot less easy to do, a full repair on your own. I have had two of these damn near completely apart and the paint alone is a pain in the *** to match perfectly, much less dial all the gaps in perfectly for the body. Body work is NOT easy and a reapir like this is not for the faint of heart. I remember one guy here waiting nearly a year for ONE part, and his car just SAT the entire time. Or you run into a very small frame bend, not detected at first that causes insane tire wear or a horrible ride, no camber adjustment in the suspension, big problems quick but you dont know until you put miles on it...

It is a BIG job for anyone to take on, fixing a totalled car. Hundreds, if not thousands of variable can incrase cost or derail a project like this very easily.
