All I can say is that I have set my cars Homelink to my Novoferm door and the little red light flashed as described in the handbook to confirm the link. Perhaps the European cars were equipped differently? What indications do you have on American spec vehicles to confirm the link is established?

To qualify what I'm saying, look at the original post of the suspect Red light.
Right behind it are the three (3) Buttons for the Homelink console, and the Blinking Red light to configure and setup Homelink is located under those 3 Buttons. Also the Homelink light is very, very small, and practically sits flush with the underside of the unit (almost looks like a flush mounted LED).
Again, that big Red thing in the picture, is NOT the Homelink light.
My Roadster is US based, and I'm not sure what they built for other areas of the world...
