Look on the bright side, as gas prices go higher there is going to be a lot more for those that can afford it and you can blast by the bicycles and those driving the likes of a Prius and on clearer roads as well.
If it gets a little too expensive to drive you will have more time to detail the car. Win win I'd say. 
I found this site with the price of gas in the UK compared to other European countries and the US. Canada is not on it unfortunately. If I was in the US I'd stop whining and pay up.
