Default Re: How to take apart a key fob without destroying it!

[quote=onehundred80]I repaired my broken fob this morning and it all went well.

I did this today and all did not go well. I followed the instructions to the letter, however, when I inserted a knife into the original fob to pop it open, a little black box that looks like a cover on a component on the circuit board popped loose. I examined the circuit board and thought I could replace the cover with super glue. I did that, and put the "new" fob back together. When I tested the new fob there was no response, the led light worked just like before but the car would not lock or unlock nor would the panic button work. My dire conclusion is I damaged the circuit board and I will have to buy a new key. Anybody have any suggestions before I cough up a hundred dollars for a new key? I have a picture of the fob with a red line pointing to the box in my gallery - (I still don't know how to insert pictures in a post.) Any help would be appreciated
