I agree, 8 miles per gallon would indicate a serious engine issue.

I'd think even if you were mis-firing on 1 cyclinder, with a rough engine, you could do at least 8 per gallon, if not better.

Is it possible your math is off...???

An easy routine is to fill the gas tank to the rim (top it off).

Drive normally for about 100 miles.

Then top off the tank again, and record the mileage driven from last fill up, and amount of gas put in.

Then do the math for mles per gallon...
