Howard, it seems there is an ignition cable lock that is connected to the shitfer lever assembly. Look on page 19-21, and read line 3 in the service manual. The cable may have broke or come loose.

Well .... James to the rescue again ..... I finally had a chance to drop the panel by the ignition as instructed in the "sticky key" procedure, and found that when I did the Sticky Key repair in June of last year, I evidently didn't securely fit the interlock cable to the ignition, and it had worked loose. After correctly securing the cable back onto the ignition, problem is solved. Thank you ......
