Removed the valve head covers to replace the gaskets, re-installed them with the new gaskets, hand tightened the bolts. Waited an hour to tighten the bolts, got to the last bolt (star bolt below oil cap) and the head of the bolt twisted clean off with very little effort on my part.....

hopefully it stays sealed until the next time the gasket needs changing, crossing my fingers.
