When I got home I noticed that the top of the oil filter had hit the top of the hood and put a hole in the insulation. If anyone doesn't agree with me, that it is the engine mount, I would like to hear what you think. My other ? is: Is it just the rubber motor mount or the motor bracket? And what would cause these to break? The car has 72K miles on it, so it isn't new, but it seems like something like this shouldn't break this early. Does anyone think something caused this to break other than normal fatigue? Also, although I don't think that this has been broken for long, could the movement of the broken left side cause any problems for the right side to fail too? Sould I replace both? Should I buy new ones, or could I get one from a totaled SRT/NA? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
My motor mounts failed also. I had some machined out of Delrin. No more problems except for the TEETH chatter! Was planning on having some made up out of 85 durometer Polyurethane like in my other cars but never got around to it. I drove the car once I think a year ago. She just takes up space like a queen in the garage.
