When I called the tire shop that I like to use the guy asked me if I was going to bump up in size on the SRT like I did on my NA. He said that they actually recommend the 285/35/19 on the rear to other XF owners now because of the better looks/handling.
BTW - what a difference a set of tires makes. A new set of tires rides SO much nicer than a bald set.......
Kim I agree, the taller tires do improve the looks, but they actually slow down the overall acceleration of your car. Because just by changing the diameter of your tire by 1" is almost like removing the 3.27 gear ratio, in your NA car, and giving it a higher gear ratio closer to the 3.07 that's in your SRT.
A 255/35/19 tire is just as wide as a 285/35/19, but the 285 is 9/10's of an inch taller. Thus slowing down the cars acceleration.
If you're not drag racing, it shouldn't matter to ya though.
