The manual (well, my manual at least) is fine in all but sixth gear which will grind unless you take particular care to ram it in at precisely the right angle. Drives me potty as I never, never ground the gears of any car previous. I just use 1-5 for normal driving and leave 6th for motorway trawls.

I don't know if you're used to automatics, but from my own personal experience of recently trying one they are lovely for wafting and infuriating when actually 'driving'. Having a tiptronic only makes it worse because the car will inevitably take over just when you think you’re in control...

Still, there are more autos to choose from so if that's your game then you'll have lots of sport to hunt.
