After playing around with the heater controls and reading the manual, I could not find a dedicated position for windshield defrost. So I did what willie did and closed the front vents. That seems to direct all the air up through the windshield vents. You may want to open the side vents just a bit and aim them towards the driver and passenger windows to speed up the process.

That has worked fine for me all this winter.
