I am requesting that people share their purchasing experiences just with upsolute as they are a reputable tuner with positive experiences on this forum. There obviously is a lot of wiggle room on pricing, if one guy paid $550 and another paid $400. old.
First of all, I am referring to the "Upsolute" tuners, of which many work out of their garage. One in California will travel to your location, if you have enough committed work lined up for him secured by deposits. You are also making out the procedure to be much more difficult than it is... no real bench checking and calibrating as you suggest. They reflash the ECU with a preset program provided by the parent company, in the case of the Crossfire, the program is the same as the one used for the SLK 320.

There is room for negotiation. People have paid anywhere from $450 to $600 for the Upsolute upgrade. And there are other programs that are even cheaper.

As for asking questions, go for it, that's what a forum is all about (but then most forums request you do a search to prevent repeated post of the same question, then again that's another issue). All I am saying is, do a search and you will have "more" information that has been accumulated over time to base your decision on. In short, this forum has been a revolving door, new people come in as old ones leave. The forum repeats itself answering nearly most of the same questions/issues over and over. But if you don't want to do a search... that's your choice.
