A 500 would get ya off for awhile but you'll slowly lose intrest and want a bigger bike any way. 750s are insane for a starter sport bike no fin way.
Yeah pennsylvania is a journey.lol. Thats a really good price though. I see the gs500 and the ninja 500's here being sold for $4.5K-$5K regardless of condition. For the price I could pick up a 600. The 750's are just slightly more expensive though, even the ducati 749 will go for around 5500 used. I see some R6's, gixxer 600's and 750's, cbr's all go for the same depending on mileage and condition. Its a tough decision but I keep leaning towards the 600's. You get an insurance break for under 600cc too. so the "600's" would be dirt cheap... just about twice the mileage of the xfire, and 1/2 the price on insurance with just as much (or more) fun.
