Well, I just had this issue last week and because of this thread, I changed it out myself without a hitch. I believe the sensor goes out due to heat or just normal wear and tear. The biggest thing I was worried about was losing the torx bolt. So I placed a small dab of super glue on it so it wouldn't fall off the socket and into the engine bay. lol It worked and my car runs like a champ.
