Absolutely - the air conditioner will remove the moisture from the air, which helps the defrost process quite a bit.

Most oher cars kick the A/C on automatically when you switch to the "defrost windshield". I actually like it better that I do it myself. Why run the compressor if it is not really needed - cuts about 3-4 mpg with the A/C on.
