Stallion8797, no you can't just cut off right at the muffler, because the inlet to the factory muffler enters from the far left side of the canister and on most universals, it enters from the center, plus there is a sharp bend just before the muffler also. I chose the cut location (approximately 3 feet upstream from the muffler), because it is just behind the factory middle hanger and it is a straight section that is easy to get to, not only to do the cut but to reinstall/weld the factory pipe, should you want to go back to the factory set up.
