Default Re: Timing is everything

While I am assuming I am a younger since I was born when the Beach Boys were big, I have had the Honor to drive a Cord 812 Supercharged Convertible, Butter Cream with light brown interior (belonged to my Great Uncle Roswell) a '36 if I remember correctly I was only 15 at the time and learning how to drive on the farm in Virginia, and My Grandmother was the second owner of a HUGE Duesenberg - Rollston. She had bought it from some "B movie" actress in San Bernandino, CA in the late forties. I have many great memories of riding in the Duesy (named Toppy) for picnic's on Big Bear, and Arrow Head Lake in the 60's when you could still see the lake from the road and just pull off to swim, picnic, or fish. I wish she had kept that car... I would love to have driven her. She gave it to a former student when she moved east to join us in VA in '72....Yes, Gave it to them GRRRR! My Father almost had a stroke. I saw them once when I worked for Disney (mid 80's) at a car show in Laguna. The car was still in perfect order. Grandmother would have been proud..she used to hand polish the car herself and do her own oil changes.
Timing is everything!! And we all need to appreciate what we have today because tomorrow it will be a classic.
