Default Re: Lets talk tires

I've had Michelin PS2's, Pilot Sport Cups, Yokohama Advan AD08, Kumho Ecsta XS and Hankook Ventus RS-3. The best in heavy rain, PS2's. Next the AD08's. The rest do well on a damp track but hydroplane easily with puddles or even a good sheet of water on the road. The Kumho's and Hankook's have lots of road noise. The best grip is difficult to say. The AD08's had fantastic grip in the dry when new but none when half worn. The XS and RS-3's are fantastic in the dry when new and keep good grip most of their lives. None last long the way I drive. (13,xxx miles and 7 sets of tires) I stopped using the Pilot Sport Cups for 2 reasons. Price and unpredictability. When they let go it's all over, only pro's can recover. The Kumho's and Kooks let go gently and recover easily. I wouldn't recommend any as heavy rain worthy. Probably didn't answer your question but it's what I know about certain tires, so far.
