...maybe they are doing the smart thing, and trimming 2006 production back until the oversupply of 2005 cars is used up. I assume there are some 2006 cars out there, but not very many. For one thing, dealers aren't likely to order any until the cars that have been sitting on their lots for 300 days are snapped up. For Chrysler, more cars = more incentives, possibly deeper ones on the '05 cars if the '06 cars are out there, as they would compete against each other.
Unless you are nuts about some minor color and trim variations, there is no compelling reason to buy a 2006 car over a 2005. I don't know how Chrysler expects to rebuild their marketing strategy, and turn the sluggish sales around (unless the strategy from this point on is to move the metal with incentives).
