Just when I think I've made up my mind to buy another Crossfire (an SRT) to share the garage with my Limited, along comes Dodges "Challenger" teaser.
Now the big question is,"will they build it?" Or is it just a styling exercise.
After all, it wasn't that long ago Chrysler was very adamant that nobody wanted to own 2dr. cars any more, and that's why they gave us the 4 dr. Charger.
In what seems to be an "olive branch" offering, (to appease all those who complained about the Chargers extra "portals") Dodge throws us a bone in the form of a retro styled Challenger.
But even if it actually does materialize, I still won't be able to get my paws on one until the fall of 2007 as an '08 model.
Oh sure, that's only going to be 3 years after Fords redesigned Mustang hit the streets, but I suppose that's better than Dodges last response time to a new Mustang. You remember, the one that took Dodge 6.5 years to acknowledge it.
So I guess all I can do is wait and see what D/C finally decides to do.
Still I can't stop wondering if the new Challenger might not have been even more desirable if they would have made a few "minor" styling changes, and called it the "HEMI CUDA II". Along with a different grill and tail lights, a few "gills" in the fenders may work wonders!
