My first post in here, great to see there's a Forum!

I had the oil changed a couple months ago, and they checked the A/C and said it was low. They wanted to flush it out for $150 (JiffyLube, lol), so I said no. It's a 2004 I've had since brand-new, and never once did anything with the A/C but I live in FL and it is critical. Always was great, seemed to take a little longer to cool, but once it got going, it was good.

But I thought I should fill it up, and got some R134 for AutoZone, and they guy there even helped. But now it doesn't cool hardly at all, and there is some noise much louder than before (compressor, I assume). I called the AutoZone back, he thinks there's some tube that may be clogged. I think that adding the freon stirred up some gook inside. Anyways, he suggested having the system emptied and re-charged. LOL, that's where I started.

Moral of the story is do not try to save money and DIY when it comes to A/C. I should have left it alone and now I do have to take it to an A/C shop.
