If it is faulty it will read normal to the cabin, but be sending the ECU a very negative (cold) number. As a result of that the engine will add fuel to keep temps at operating levels which will cause the engine to get hotter than normal when it is actually much warmer outside than the temp sensor believes.
Could you help me locate the ambient temperature sensor,I can not locate it in the service manual ?
