Default Re: Removal of Upper Oil Pan...

Engines's full of sludge - so I want to do as much of an inspection and cleanup as possible - preferably without taking the motor out.
80k miles, but sludge was so bas even the oil filler cap was blocked

Thinking
  • Heads off
  • Lumpy cam?....not sure.
  • Timing cover off, new chain and 4 new guides whilst I'm in there - couple of hundred bucks
  • Pull a piston and inspect - hopefully okay
  • Clean upper oil pan and check oil sprays, visual check of other journals
  • Clean all possible galleries.
  • If I can get away with doing withough pulling the motor - all the better.
