Re: Chrysler to Replace '05 Convertible Tops Under TSB - YAHOO!!
I just picked up my '05 Crossfire with it's new top. I bought it used infrom Carmax in December 2010 with 14k miles on it and never had any warranty. My window began to separate a couple of months ago.
I called Chrysler customer service and explained my window problem. They asked for my VIN number mileage (34K miles) and gave me a case number. A case manager contacted me the next day and told that I was covered by the service bulletin and told me to take it to a dealership to verify problem. I received a phone call the next day stating that the warranty was approved and that the parts were ordered.
I received another call and was told that because my car was not originally sold in one of the approved states that I was not eligible for the warranty repair. However, they offered to replace the top if I paid a $250 deductible. I was a bit annoyed but I really couldn't refuse the offer. A new top on a seven year old car for $250.What a deal! I dropped my car off at the dealership on Wednesday and got it back on Thursday. It looks great. It only took 2 weeks and a few phone calls and I have a new top.
The moral of this story is thati it appears that Chrysler is more than willing to work with those of us with the window problem.
