You seem to have some misplaced faith in dealers. Dealers are not out to sell you a near perfect car at a good price - their goal is only to make a profit, and nothing more. You will likely pay more for a vehicle at a dealer, and they will only do whatever they need to do to a used vehicle to be able to sell it (sometimes doing some very cheap things to hide a problem, rather than fix it).

I suggest you start looking at private parties.
