Well apparently the Connecticut State Police take up to 2 weeks to finish a police report because the one regarding my car is still not ready.I spoke to the other car's insurance claims rep and he said he spoke to both parties and both are claiming they had the green light so no work is being done until the report comes out and liability is established.He did say the mechanic said it happened as he got off the highway.I decided to call the General Manager to let him know there was no way the guy should have been driving the car much less driving it on the highway.He actually defended the mechanic saying they tell all the mechanics to perform a road safety test by driving the car.Of course I said that makes no sense to road test a car that is in there for a minor electrical issue especially before diagnosing the problem.He stuck to his guns.I also complained about the Jeep Patriot they gave me as a loaner but he said they had nothing but patriots or the compass as loaners.This whole situation sucks.
Your insurance company should be the lead on this. The police report will establish fault, IF, there were witnesses. As far as road testing, that is up to the dealership, and you have to tell them, and have it written on the work order, if you don't want them to drive your car. They won't guarantee work if you do in most cases. Again, listen or don't, but this was an accident, and police were called. So, your insurance carrier should take care of everything. Dealer, like it or not, won't be in this other than their liability part of the insurance if it comes to that. Last resort is a costly civil suit, you probably can't win... Accidents happen. If he was malicious or had malicious intent, and that could be proven, maybe then...good luck...
