I hooked mine up to the side marker lights. Made a cut in insulation wrapped and soldered in. Works good. You may want to consider a molex connector so you can plug/unplug lights for repair or maint. I put leds on top of light housing instead of bottom. Besure to test lights before mounting to make sure you have them turned in the correct direction for best light.
