Re: Prioritizing mods...
Wow.... I'm normally a big fan of buying these custom tunes. I had one done on my Hyundai Genesis Coupe a while back, that was done by a tuner while the car was on a dyno, and bought one more recently for my Cadillac CTS Coupe that works just like the Eurocharged tune (USB programming cable and software).
I guess what I'm a bit put off by is the price? Even with the $100 or so discount right now, a tune for the SRT-6 looks like it's about $640, and then it's over $500 *more* if you want the transmission control unit tuned too!
The tune I bought for my CTS included *both* ECU and TCU custom tunes, and I paid under $450 for it, total! The custom dyno tune for my Genesis Coupe was around $500 on a special group buy, but the tuner has been offering it to others for $600 ever since then. (His, too, programmed both TCU and ECU together - removing the speed limiter and making throttle control adjustments, disabling the O2 sensors so you could remove the cats without getting a CEL, etc. etc.)
I guess the Crossfire SRT6 tune costs more because the cars are so rare ... but at the same time, I can't imagine a whole lot of people are out there getting the Cadillac CTS's custom tuned either (not talking about the CTS-V here). Is this really as good a price as they get?
