How fast will the SRT-6 be? Some guessing...
I just checked out the specs for weight on some cars that will share this engine with the Crossfire. My C32 sedan is 3,540 lbs. and the SLK32 is 3220 lbs. The Crossfire now weighs about 3,060 lbs. What will it weigh with the new engine, 3,100 lbs., 3,150? The fastest test of the C32 was in Autocar Magazine: 0-60 4.6 seconds, 1/4 mile 13.0@107MPH. The SLK was always a hair faster though I don't recall the exact numbers. I'm thinking that this Crossfire may match the C32s best times in a worst case scenario and could even run something like 12.8@110MPH. What kind of numbers do you guys expect from it?
It surely will vault past the speed class containing cars like the 350Z, Boxster S and S2000 right into a class with serious sportscars like the C5 Corvette, Porsche Carrera and BMW M3.
Edit: Found this just now "Chrysler is boasting that the supercharged SRT-6 is better than the Porsche Boxster and that it can do the 0-60 mph run in just over 5 seconds, making it a real sports car." Darn, it seems they're aiming a little lower with this thing. Hopefully MB is asking that they be conservative with claims. I know that MB claims something like 4.9-5.2 seconds 0-60 for the C32 but Autocar saw 4.6 seconds.
