Default Re: Has anybody successfully REPAIRED a cupholder?

I worked at the Windsor Husky for 4 years and I can tell you.. Those new truckers do not have their license. When processing their T-Check, I don't know how many FTI, Buffalo Group, and I Wheels drivers gave me a G2 dated for that year. (G2 is the graduated beginners here in Ontario. You need an AZ license to drive transport). The sad part, after reporting them to the MTO a few times I was finally told "Stop doing our job. We'll catch them eventually." Nothing like watching a beginner tie his hood back on to the truck with clothes line rope and drive off in a snow storm.

Anyways.

I snapped the little clip off. Afterwards I took the spring out. And at the back of the cup holder unit, while it was disassembled, I stuffed a piece of hard, flexible plastic in, bent at a 65* angle to keep the cup holder flush with the console when it's closed. That was my incredible fix.

While playing with the thing (I thought I broke it worse than I did) I learned that if you pull the silver area of the cup holder back (towards the trunk) it will close with no force (That's minus the spring though) No need to pinch it or force it back further than it moves.

Oh, and wear goggles if you take the spring out. I did but I still almost lost an eye in the process.
