Not necessarily 'repaired', but I did make mine so it doesnt pitch a tent all day long. I removed the spring so now to open it I just push down on the rear. It pops up and locks into place in the up position. To put it back down I just squeeze the upper portion from the front and back and the latch releases so it just glides back down on its own. Works for me and was free.
