Re: No more street racing for me.
The Cubed car law here in Ontario (Canada) is brutal. You don't have to be over 50km to get your car impounded and cubed. You just have to be suspected of it.
My friend lost his Mustang a few months after this law came in to effect. He hates street racing. Thinks it should be only done on the tracks (and I agree with this thought to some degree) Anyways, when someone revs their engine at him, he'll do it back. But he lets the other driver take of and he laughs at it. Well, he did it with one of the old unmarked cars Windsor had just introduced. The unmarked took off, pulled over in front of him, arrested him, charged him and cubed the car 6 hours later.
He did go to court and the police were found to be in the wrong, but it was too late and the judge ruled that the city didn't have to reimburse him the car.
The OPP down here are real fair. I've had more than 1 warning in my time when I should of got something. But the Windsor police are dirty. They've been caught moving construction speed limit signs on to high speed roads (EC Row was the most recent example) I was actually caught with one of these. The guy took it off Central, placed it on EC Row and hid behind it. Still couldn't fight it. Judge said "You saw the sign, you have no excuse" When I said "There's no scheduled city plans for construction on EC Row until October (It was July) the judge said it didn't matter." The judge changed the charge from 40 over in a posted construction zone to failure to notice a sign. So I paid $180 and lost (or gained? I don't know anymore) 2 points.
