Ignoring the legal hurdles that the insurance company will make you jump, it's a nightmare.
But since you're dealing with insurance, the legality can't be ignored, and once they get $10,000 into the repair and realize it's not compatible with the rest of the chassis systems/software, they'll cook your goose.
I'd advise against it. Just trying to save you some headache. Insurance companies are hell enough as it is...
