Crank Shaft Pulley-Misfire Issue-Help
I understand there are a number of threads on the topic so do bare with me for a moment. I have read almost all of them, and have not been able to grasp the idea yet.
I own a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire N/A which recently started experiencing some misfire problems. The codes I was getting reflected a misfire in every cylinder. P0301..0302.. and so on. The car misfires promptly around 4200RPM regardless of throttle position, and functions flawlessly below that. I could not diagnose and pinpoint the problem myself and hence took it to the dealership. (Perhaps a controversial move)
It took them 2 appointments and 10 hours to suggest an issue with my crank shaft pulley/harmonic balancer. I took a look down there and noticed wear on the rubber "seal". They suggested fuel pressure was normal, and the cats are solid.
Could this in fact be the root cause and only cause to the misfire? Where can I get the replacement outside of the dealership. (Chrysler wants $620 for it: Part #5142979-AA, IE: TOO expensive)
Does anyone have a mercedes counterpart number? Or an alternative that is feasible?
Thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
FJP
