From someone who owns a Durango and has driven both Jeeps. - The Durango platform is much more adapt to the Luxury SUV market. The Durango is classified as a full size SUV and its size and ride are more favorable to compete in this market. Whether you like them or not this is a no brainer for the Chrysler brand. They will sell, maybe not in huge numbers, but they will sell. DC makes a minor investment using an existing very capable platform add some more accessories and chrome and charge a premium over the Durango. Even at that premium the pricing will beat anything Cadillac, Lincoln and some foreign makes charge and people will buy them.
It seems most on here are not fans of SUVs and they are not for everyone but then again neither are Crossfires. They both are great vehicles for their market.
I have to agree 100%. The platform of the Durango is perfect for a more luxo SUV. No the SUV thing is not for everyone but I know one thing I wouldn't give up my 2004 Durango for anything. It is so versatile that I couldn't be without it. No it won't get the looks the Crossfire does but it does alot of the "dirty" work the Crossfire can't.
