Not using ear buds, I had my stereo so loud one day (when I was much younger) that I did not hear the sirens from the on coming first responder truck (coming from my right at an intersection, in my lane) that when I turned "right on red", I hit him (glancing head on). I was looking left for oncoming traffic while I turned right. Not a good day for me - especially when my dad just happened to drive by about 5 minutes after the wreck . I wasn't hurt from the wreck (no one was hurt, thankfully), but I was certain the pain would come once I got home
