Default Re: Auto Dimming Mirror

I put the new mirror on today. The schematic from an old post helped identify the proper tap wires. I didn't bother with the reverse function. It's not that important to me nor did this new unit come with that option.

I did have an OH S@@@ moment. When attempting to remove the old mirrors attachment post (the one of the windshiedl glass) part of the glass came off with the post. I hope it doesn't have issues with structural integrety but only time will tell. It's up in the areas where the windshield is blacked out. I took some black paint and then black tap and covered it. Then, attached / glued the new sleave to the windshield. I had to glue is slightly lower than the old one anyway because the mirror is bigger so the attachment area wasn't an issue as far as having to attach it.

New mirror has an on off button. Is larger. Works way better than the OEM mirror and I expect will be great at night.

One warning. If you do this upgrade, make sure to ask a professional for a way to ensure that the old one won't pull part of the glass off with it. It may be impossible, but it's worth asking.
