As a former owner of a GM product, I can attest to the Dex-Cool problem. Our van lost intake and head gaskets, requiring a complete overhaul. Thousands of GM 3.4 liter motors had similar issues. It took the threat of a class actions suit for GM to even recognize there was a problem.

GM placed the blame for the epidemic of gasket failure on everything but Dex-Cool. And there certainly may have been myriad contributing factors. But Dex-Cool will destroy your engine. Perhaps it is by design.
