dip stick vs. level sensor
My 1st oil change with 8 quarts (thanks forum, 2004 manuals say 6 qrts.), was exactly to the top of the norman range on the dipstick and the level sensor said "OK".
Now at 3500 miles since the change the level sensor says "- 1.0 qt" BUT it is only about 1/5 of the way down from the top of the normal rnage on the dip stick. I do not want to overfill it.
The question is, is the range on the dipstick really "one quart from low to full" like the manual says (and I am ony 1/5 of a qt. low) or is the manual WRONG (just like it is when it says that an oil change is 6 quarts) and I am really one whole quart low like the sensor is indicating? If the level sensor is correct the range on the dipstick could be 5 quarts if it is proportional!
