Default It died while driving down the highway

My 05 crossfire died on me the other day as was cruising along, no warning, just quit. Had it towed to the dealer. after a couple hours they said it was the rcm that had shorted out and need replaced. So $500 and a day later, I am back on the road. I came across the post on the bad solder on the rcm, and decided to look at my old part and see how bad it was, and possibly resolder it and keep it as a backup. I pull the cover off and look at the solder, and it looks good even under a magnifying glass. Could it still be just the solder, or coulld the whole part just be bad? Here is a couple pics.
