Re: HELP!!! – SRT6 cannot be fixed
wow...this is a first. Both of my 6's have had peripheral engineering-related problems. Most of the time, the usual differential harmonic, pump, and rcm are the culprits. Two of the three happened with the black one (go figure, it is a "smoother" version than the graphite, but definitely not driven as much). Your arguement is cogent and documented. I may be flamed here, but I've never owned a car that couldn't be repaired properly. I, too, have the service contracts that are rapidly closing, window-wise. If you had your old rcm replaced...not repaired, then I'm at a loss. CPS mimicks this. But, you addressed that (hoping you replaced that with a bosch fact. replacement...I bought two just in case). One thing I can tell you is that after 3-4 years of ownership of two fantastic 6's (the best cars I've ever owned) is that you neeed a specialist. I'm realizing that a 5* dealer (who wouldn't put you through these hoops and would have a factory trained and updated mechanic...yes, usually only one since we're out of production...dedicate half his day to your car alone until corrected) would have been a very appropriate place to start. All I know is that these cars can be extremely finicky and this forum has been of great help when I have to take one of them in (ie; print out, give to service manager, talk with tech...problem usually resolved in a couple of days). This reeks of electrical gremlins which don't necessarily produce a code (unless you've done every search on this site and ruled "all" of the usual suspects). But, the bottom line is that this car has caused you massive headaches; not the least of which as been compounded by family issues. If your srt has lost its panache with both you and everyone who knows you, then I'd consider trading it in (first time I've recommended this and if you can hang onto it until you obtain employment, then all the better). You've ticked all the boxes, this is a seven year old car produced during the last days of the Merc/Chrysler somewhat dysfunctional marriage. If it were me...I'd give it one last shot (from your detailed analysis, you don't have a 5* dealer near you) from an independent Merc garage since we're close cousins. I'll put it this way, I have two toyotas which have been flawless and bought new. The crossfires (also, bought new) have been back to the dealer a handful of times (excluding oil changes...) for odd failures. I'll jusy say electrical...then pursue the legal/financial aspects. Unfortunately, these cars can be...rather, sort of, you got a really bad day assembly day at Karmann during Oktoberfest... like the proverbial trophy wife. Me? I can't see myself selling either of them for years to come. They're worth it and as you alluded to, are a "great ride."
