That is horrible. I hope you can try to do the RCM repair. I don't know what I would have done after 2 months with my car down, let alone, over two years... legal action in all likelihood if that was a possibility. The only thing I can say is it is unfortunate you didn't come to these forums sooner! I bet you either the RCM fix or the pedal assembly replacement could solve your problem. Oddly, I had the pedal symptoms you are describing very recently (no rough idle though). The problem went away, but another member stated it was the pedal assembly.
