OBDII if I'm not mistaken is only going to get you into the "top layer" so to say..Crossfire card on Ebay and your friends with the MB tools might be your best bet.. Hopefully others will chime in with experience in the electronic modules and accessing..
I already have and OBDII reader!!!
I got the Mercedes scan tool package from autoenginuity.com. Spoke to the folks and they confirm it provides full access to all data on the Crossfire from first hand experience. -
