I was wondering if anyone could advise or point me in the right direction for doing a V8 conversion into a different car. I have a 1964 Mercedes coupe that I wanted to put the driveline from a 2001 W220 S55 AMG into. However, whilst I now understand how the conversion was done in the crossfire, I don't know what ECu/computer problems I may encounter if trying to use the engine and trans, and possibly the rear end all together.
I am worried that I may end up with a case where the only people who can do the electrical wizardry are in the USA - and it is a little too far to transport the car over there if I get myself in trouble! We are not blessed with a wealth of smart people/customisers with Benz stuff in Australia, and I have just started a new business so I do not have the time to spend 2 years learning how to use the star computer program (in German, nonetheless!).
The donor car I was looking at was overseas, and customs won't let me bring the car in whole - the body has to be separate from the mechanicals, so freight costs will be high. I was wondering whether I just strip the mechanicls and key wiring/computers out and just ship them, without the body.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Again, kudo's to the pioneers of this transplant in the crossfire - it must be nice hearing the V8 roar!
Cheers, Drew
number one I would say get a hold Rudy Compart, use your on the form find his name and p.m. him, he can do one of two things. Tell you what he thinks could be done, or take a trip over there and do it for you. There's no way anyone can tell you the price does each car is a different price compared to the options you want from the engine. And then your car that you're putting the engine in is whether or not the suspension and hold up to it, if you had an SL K 32, and wanted to put a v 8 in it It would be a lot easier. At the same time two members here on the form have installed v8's Non-supercharged into their crossfire's good luck, Jim
