i know the Mechatronic guys. I'm living 10 miles away from their company. They really built up the cars from scratch. And what they do is to implant really everything from the donor car into the classic. Even the electronic. So these cars have ABS/ESP and so on. I think it's possible to transfer the KI electronics into your 1964 gauges.

I think a good start will be getting a workshop manual from the 2001 W220 S55 AMG donor. And learn about the CAN-bus elements and electonic control moduls in that car. So you'll understand how everything interacts. The next step would be to get into Star DAS. Hope that helps a little bit.
