My philosophy is that if you see a car and want it and you know that it has not been damaged, and the mechanics and the body are really good for its year then go for it.
If it is damaged, dented etc do not buy it because it is cheap unless you can bring it up to the standard you want for less than the difference between the price you will pay for it and the price you would pay for the car of your choice.

If you buy a cheap car now you may forever regret it.
Sometimes it's just better to wait until the right car comes along and it will, maybe right after you purchased the cheap one.
