Default Re: Crossfire Sales/value

In 1974 I was in college.....my bug exploded (this was not the first time it had self destructed). I went out to buy a Triump GT6 MKIII......discovered they stopped making them in 1973. Found a used chocolate brown 73 GT6 at a Lotus dealership.....paid $3,400. Drove it for a couple years & took it into a Triump dealership to have a really cool exhaust system installed. While waiting, a salesman asked if I wanted to take a new TR-7 home for the night. I did....on the way home a set of duals came off a truck coming right at me......BAMM!!.....Knocked the TR-7 back.....but no obvious exterior damage.....next day shifting from 3rd to 4th I.....missed a shift. When I took it back to the dealership they asked if I wanted to buy it....I said yes......but I don't want this one. I negotiated on price....they came down about a thousand + gave me $3,700 for the GT6......then they realized I hadn't paid for the fancy exhaust system yet......I said ...Oh, that's your car now. A week later I discovered there was supposed to be a $1,000 rebate on on TR-7s.....went back & got the rebate!!!!

Two years later I traded the TR-7 in on a brand new Vette......they gave me about a $1,000 more as a trade in than I had really paid for the TR-7.......!!!!!

10 years later I sold the Vette for about 75% of what I had paid for it....!!!!

Those were the good old days!!!
