Random off shoot- question which is the better air box the v8 or c320 air box. or are they both the same (I know the slk one is exactly the same as the crossfire)

Strangely, this has all been covered before and a simple look through the old threads will give you a lot of info. There is only one air box that fits to my knowledge and some of the air boxes that look correct are just a little too high and rub on the hood liner and leave a dent in it. The V8 air boxes do not fit because of this, they clip in place no trouble but are too high by about a 1/4" or so.
The NA OEM intake pipes will fit inside the correct air box intakes until you can get the proper ones. When I did this mod on my NA I made adapters to extend the length of the new intake tubes to get more of the intakes through the radiator support but I did not use them in the end.
I will add the thread that covers this, it lists all the part numbers for the Mercedes parts from the throttle body to the intake tubes.
List of parts.
By coincidence I took two air boxes that were the wrong part number to the dump on Saturday, one I made a mistake in buying and the other was shipped in error when I ordered the correct number, it was replaced by the seller who told me to keep the wrong part. He also sent me a V8 nose piece, brand new, and it now resides in the dump as well. I took some screws, clips and donuts off these parts, maybe I'll need them one day, but I doubt it.
The link in my signature lists many of the threads covering common problems, fixes and mods. The thread I am referring to is listed there as well.
